TEMPLATES
In Asana and ProdGoal there are templates upon which you can build when creating your projects. You can also build it using individual features and customize the workspace later however you want.
UNLIMITED BOARDS
An unlimited number of boards per project are at your disposal in both tools. While Asana’s board view can be a little overwhelming for beginners, ProdGoal’s clear and simple design makes using this feature very easy for all levels of expertise.
UNLIMITED COLUMNS PER BOARD
Asana and ProdGoal allow you to create columns without a limit. In ProdGoal you can set WIP limits, define column policies, and set column types and type categories. Asana’s sections are somewhat limited and don’t have as many options as in ProdGoal.
WIP limits in ProdGoal’s columns are shown at the top of them and they change color as you come near or go over the limit. They, however, don’t stop you if you want to create or delete more items.
The column types are there to help you categorize columns. You can create an unlimited number of column types also. The types come with 5 predefined type categories.
UNLIMITED ITEMS
In ProdGoal, you can organize items by their types. Asana has this feature through the options feature, which is displayed as a tag on an item.
Prodgoal’s Item types are similar to column types, the difference being that item types have their view, while Asana doesn’t have this option. The types have their categories too, and you can create an unlimited number of type categories.
In ProdGoal, there is a blocker flagging feature available on the items. The item becomes red when you turn on this option and lets the assigned member know if this item is blocking another item. Asana doesn’t have this feature.
Any number of members can be assigned to the same task, while in Asana you can assign only one member. There is also an icon on the item that displays the time a task has spent in a status.
Asana gives unlimited storage space in its free plan for attachments, and ProdGoal offers 5 MB of internal storage but integration with Google Drive allows you to have unlimited storage space.
UNLIMITED USERS/GUESTS
Any number of guests can be invited to ProdGoal, while there is a limit to inviting guests to your workspace in Asana unless you upgrade to the Business plan. You can invite up to 15 teammates to your workspace
You can assign a task to the invited member as soon as you invite them.
NEXT-GEN ROADMAP
Next-gen roadmap is a feature that sets apart ProdGoal and Asana. It is a highly customizable feature that really puts focus on the workflow.
Roadmap columns and rows are collapsible so you can use that feature to improve the focus on the important work. Asana has a timeline feature enabled in its Business plan.
There is a rich-text editor available in roadmap rows and roadmap cards that allows you to attach files and format the text.
There are also item relations features on roadmap cards. This feature is displayed on each card. With a click on the bar, you can see the list of the board items attached to the roadmap card.
AUTOMATIC ESTIMATES
One other feature ProdGoal has and Asana doesn’t is groups. The groups have their own view and they are collapsible so you can limit which group is shown in the view. You can create an unlimited number of groups. Items are placed there by default. The group estimates items’ finish date. It calculates its estimation based on finished items data.
You can change items’ status and set the relation to a roadmap card from the group view.

It is easy to use
ProdGoal’s centralized view makes it easy to switch perspectives. If you want to have a wide view of the project’s strategy and goals or if you want to focus on a particular task, it is really easy to accomplish that with a click of a button.
Well balanced features
For complex projects, Asana gets really complicated really fast, so you spend your time trying to figure out all of the features’ options instead of focusing on the work. As opposed to ProdGoal’s many but thought-through features that help and don’t overwhelm you.
You can assign multiple members to a task
In ProdGoal any member you invite you can assign a task to, while in Asana you can only assign a single person, which makes it difficult for any team to organize and communicate.
